I remember that day, anxiously awaiting my SokoGlam package that contained the beauty product creating a stir in the beauty community. As I took the beautiful glass bottle out of the packaging, the I’m From Mugwort Essence gleamed in all its green glory. The simple package is stunning, and the 100% mugwort essence has been a staple in my routine ever since. Now two years later, I’m certain my sensitive and acne-prone skin cannot thrive without it. Let’s dive into what this holy-grail ingredient is and what products are MintyGal-approved.
What is it?
Mugwort, or artemisia vulgaris, is a weed known for having many benefits for the body. It can be ingested as a tonic to ease numerous digestional issues and ease menstrual cramps, and it also can be applied topically to help the overall skin condition. Mugwort is special in that it is antioxidant-rich while being deeply nourishing making it suitable for all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin like me. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties also make this ingredient a game-changer for those with acne-prone skin. If you are struggling with breakouts or just want a more calm complexion, I would say give mugwort a try. I have had sensitive, acne-prone skin for over a decade, and this ingredient is the real deal. I’ll drop some of my mugwort favorites and encourage you to give them a try.
I’m From 100% Mugwort Essence – $40
Even though these are in no particular order, this one is HOLY GRAIL status for me. I have been really enjoying single-ingredient products and this one should be on everyone’s top shelf, bottom shelf, dresser, or wherever you keep your skincare goodies. It is that damn good. It’s super hydrating, soothing and a little goes a long way. This product also won a best of K-beauty award by SokoGlam. Need I say more?
Round Lab Mugwort Calming Toner – $27
This toner has been a part of my skincare routine since 2018, so you know it has my stamp of approval. I repurchase this product time and time again not only because the packaging is cute, but because my skin loves the hydrating and soothing ingredients. Packed with mugwort, madecassoside, and allantoin, this toner feels like it’s actually doing something for your skin, prepping it for the next products in your routine.
Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence (Mist) – $47
This has been the most recent addition to my collection and I have been enjoying it. It is not a single-ingredient product like I initially thought, but has 100% double-fermented mugwort as the main ingredient. Fermented ingredients can help the skin microbiome and helps the ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin. These benefits plus the convenience of a mist make this a winner!
ISNTREE Mugwort Powder Wash – $16
This powder wash is so interesting and once introduced to water, makes a soft and luxurious foam. It is perfect step 2 in your double cleanse routine, as it does a great job rinsing off any leftover dirt and debris from the skin. Packed with mugwort, allantoin, and the fruit enzyme papain (from papayas), it leaves skin feeling soft and calm. The best part is that it doesn’t strip the skin of moisture despite being a foam cleanser.
Let me know what you think of these products if you have tried them for yourself. Also, if there are other mugwort products you recommend, please drop them below as I’d love to check them out!
