Well, I went to college to study communications and mass media. I have always wanted to report news or write articles about subjects that have interested me. Since I was young, I wanted to write for a fashion magazine because I would get immersed in all the glamour as I flipped through the pages. As a child with rollers in my hair waiting for my hairdryer to stop, reading a fashion magazine was customary. I found it so inspiring. As a child, you don’t realize it’s mostly ads or that there were very few models of color (Something I started to notice during my teenage years), you’re just enamored with the styling and progression of the story, creating a world I wanted to live in. I considered it a chic, grownup, ultra-glam, and stylish storybook. Publications like Vogue, Seventeen, and Essence magazines became abundant in my cluttered room over time, sparking my creativity and love for fashion. I would clip out outfits and put them on a mood board in my room, thinking that my closet could resemble the outfits displayed on those glossy pages.
Life has derailed me a bit, and although I received my degree a little later in life, that is still a dream job of mine. I have also realized how much I love to chat about sports. Growing up, I watched Sage Steele and Stuart Scott grace ESPN with all their confidence, knowledge, and swagger. I just knew it was something I would love doing as well. It was always a delight to see Pam Oliver or Erin Andrews on the sidelines of the football games, getting one-on-one interviews with the players and coaches. So yeah, both of those would be dream jobs for me. Especially when I see Molly on First Take. I’m just like wow, she has a dream job for sure. I would love a job like hers.
