Since BLACKSWAN debuted in 2020, the group has faced all kinds of challenges. From numerous scandals to line-up changes, it is impressive that the group has remained resilient despite all the dysfunction that stunted their growth. With a focus on the future and the mission to highlight more cultures in K-pop, label DR Music surrounded the group’s leader, Fatou with a new line-up. This process was shown in the Apple TV documentary, K-Pop Idols which was released in 2023. With the addition of Nvee, Gabi, and Sriya the group feels complete. This reassured fans that BLACKSWAN was back and headed in the right direction. They released the That Karma EP in 2023 and the mini-album Roll Up in 2024. It is apparent they complement one another and highlight each other’s strengths. We love to see it. K-pop needs a multicultural group like BLACKSWAN that breaks boundaries and gives something different to the K-pop genre. I hope they continue to create more music and become more globally recognized.
