The NBA season finally kicked off this week, starting with high-profile matchups all week. The season kicked off for the New York Knicks this past Wednesday. October 22, 2025, with a showdown at the garden. One of the best teams in the East, led by the incredible Donovan Mitchell, faced off against the Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson. The Knicks went with a different starting line-up than last season.. Mitchell Robinson and Josh Hart sat out, which made room for the more dynamic bench to have a chance to put numbers on the board. Backup center A. Hukporti started, giving the Knicks 5 rebounds and staying active on both ends of the floor despite his size. K. Towns found himself in early foul trouble, but gave a solid double-double performance, ending the game with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Like Towns, Anunoby also had a double-double, scoring 24 points, 12 of which came from 3-point range, and grabbing 14 rebounds. The bench contributed 35 points, led by M. McBride, who scored 15 points. All in all, a strong start for New York. The Knicks were able to weather the storm during the second half when Mitchell tried to take control of the game. The Cavs played a decent game of basketball, but lacked the energy to keep up in terms of scoring. Jared Allen was also shut down, keeping one of their best players to only 4 points and 4 boards.

A promising start for the Knicks, who are still one of the best teams in the East. Let’s see if they can continue to maintain the ball movement and keep hitting their 3-pointers. Hopefully, M. Robinson can make it back into the rotation, and J. Hart can add that “it” factor to the team. So far, I’m sure Knicks fans are pleased with what we have seen early on.
