Jessi has released her new mini-album, Pretty Mood Swings, after a five-year hiatus. Known for her powerful stage presence and undeniable swagger, this album flows through some of her favorite genres without losing her signature edge. The project is honest, showing her vulnerability, which is nothing new to her fans. She has built a loyal fan base that appreciates her resilience and confidence, making her a standout in the K-pop industry. As a fan, I have been eagerly anticipating her new project, especially after she spent time out of the limelight following some media drama she was wrapped up in. Jessi has experienced numerous ups and downs throughout her career, from specific labels not working out to inconsistent music releases; she has weathered every storm. This mini-album was released by her newly founded UNNI Company, which has allowed Jessi to be very hands-on with her music and overall look. She looks badass on the album cover and exudes confidence in both of the music videos she dropped for this project. It may be a mini album, but it has made a significant statement. Jessi isn’t going away, and that is music to our ears.
The title of the mini-album is perfectly relatable, and I love the play on words. The five songs take you on a personal journey, never forgetting that signature Jessi touch of realness and perseverance. It’s nice to see that softer side to her, which makes her somehow even more relatable. Jessi is private in her personal relationships, but outspoken about who she is, despite the hurdles in life.
This mini-album is a breath of fresh air, and she picked the perfect time to release it before the year is out. She is hardworking, beautiful, and stays committed to her craft. I am very excited for Jessi and what’s yet to come from her new label.
