I have been on the hunt for a new blush palette after putting a serious dent in my Rare Beauty blushes. I initially had my eye on the Huda Beauty Blush Filter Blurring Palette, but I didn’t really want to spend that much. So on my wishlist it remains.
Luckily for me, a coworker mentioned that she loved the Volume 2 blush duo from Juvia’s Place. Once she showed me a picture of the gorgeous dolly pink shade, I knew I had to become reacquainted with the brand. I saw the Blushed and Bronzed Blurring palette on the site, and it went straight into the cart. For $25, you get eight pretty shades with different finishes, all in pink packaging. Exactly what I was looking for.
It was tough choosing a palette, but I ultimately went with volume 2, which had softer shades because I can be a bit heavy-handed. You can see from the swatches that they are pigmented and apply very smoothly. A little goes a long way.
Thanks to a sale they were running, I took the opportunity to purchase more items. I purchased two bundles. The first is the Nudes bundle, which includes the Nudes eyeshadow palette, Coffee Break lip gloss, and the Coffee Bean lux lipliner. The second is the berry bundle, which includes a volumizing gloss stick in Black Berry and the long-wear lipliner in Scorpio. Lastly, I bought 2 glosses from the Red and Berries collection: Ruby Rose and Sweet Beets.
I’ve had some time to play around with my new editions, and I have to say, the lip glosses are BOMB. Now, I am usually a matte lip balm/lip stain kind of girl, but my sister insisted I wear more gloss. These here have me hooked. They apply smoothly and feel very comfortable on the lips. I love that they aren’t sticky and the shades are so complementary to my skin tone. Kenyan Coffee has to be my favorite and is usually in my bag at all times. I might have to purchase the other colors from the coffee collection because I am in love. Sweet Beets and Ruby Rose are very pretty as well, with the same lovely, plush formula. They are pretty sheer, but both shades brighten up the complexion. It’ll pair very nicely with a lipliner, but I have yet to wear any of these glosses with a liner. On their own, they are fabulous!
The volumizing gloss sticks were a nice surprise. These are very hydrating and have more pigment than I was expecting. The blackberry shade is beautiful and pigmented. The product twists up and is cooling on the lips. It applies like a balm/gloss hybrid, but with some serious color payoff, so you only need a few dabs to get the job done. The shade Chocolate is a lovely everyday shade that feels very chic. I don’t love the click-and-twist packaging, but the product itself is great.
I should also briefly mention the lipliners. As I’ve mentioned, I haven’t worn any of the lipliners yet, but upon swatching them, they are creamy and have great lasting power. The Lux Lip Liner is a twist-up crayon, and the long-wear liner is in regular pencil form. They both come in many shades, so there is something for everyone.
I’ll admit I don’t reach for eyeshadow these days. I did, however, swatch and play around with the shadows at home, and found them very easy to work with. The mattes are creamy, and the shimmers are stunning. My only critique is that I am unsure if the matte tones look good on my complexion. I would have to play around more, but it’s a nice palette for the price, as I do love the shimmers.
All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I got a nice variety of items without breaking the bank. I found a blush palette that checked all my boxes and got introduced to glosses I can’t live without. I can’t wait to try more of their items and continue supporting this awesome black-owned business.
